The acrobatic Justin Gabriel has the physical gifts to pull off a spectacular move that will have fans talking about the South African regardless of who wins the Rumble match.
In 2011, William Regal knocked John Morrison off the ring apron for what looked like certain elimination for Morrison. Morrison instead clung to the ring barricade and made his way ever so deftly back into the match.
Kofi Kingston followed that up the next year by doing a handstand worthy of a circus.
The impressive move created the kind of buzz among fans that WWE must salivate over. How many Royal Rumble 2012 DVD purchases were in part inspired by wanting to watch that move over and over again?
Could this be the third consecutive year fans witness a jaw-dropping display of athleticism at the Royal Rumble?
Should WWE decide to follow up Kingston's and Morrison's moments with another high-wire act, Gabriel is the right man for the job.
Gabriel's matches include some impressive twists and spins. He is one of the fastest men in WWE and one of the top wrestlers in terms of agility.
That combo gives the WWE backstage team a brilliant canvas on which to paint.
Taking a look at the gymnastic quality of his best moves, it's clear that he’s capable of an incredible spot come Royal Rumble.
As remarkable as he is at his best, Gabriel is not the only WWE superstar gifted enough to construct a superb Royal Rumble moment.
According to PWInsider.com (via sescoops.com) Shelton Benjamin is rumored to be a part of this year's Rumble match.
Of course, there's no guarantee those rumors will prove true, and secondly, WWE would be wiser to give this moment to a regular member of the roster.
Benjamin's entry itself is a water-cooler moment. This would do more for Gabriel's career.
Why not any of the other men on the roster with springs for leg bones?
Were Tyson Kidd not recovering from knee surgery, he'd be the perfect candidate because of his uncanny athleticism.
Sin Cara recently had minor surgery as well, though it was a far less serious procedure. He tweeted about when he'd be back.
Back in Mexico, my knee medical review went great, expect me soon back in the ring!!— Sin Cara WWEOfficial (@TheSinCaraWWE) January 15, 2013
Even if he is back in time for the Royal Rumble, there are other reasons not to select him.
With how often he gets injured and with his reputation for flubbing moves, how much confidence can WWE have handing the Kofi moment baton to Sin Cara?
For Gabriel, it would give him some much-needed momentum. He's been barely featured in 2013 so far.
A moment like Kingston's or Morrison's gets people talking about Gabriel and deepens fans' appreciation of him. If he does something spectacular at the Royal Rumble, it can only help his career and make Royal Rumble 2013 even better.
