Jacque Jones was released by the Cincinnati Reds on Monday after batting .089 in 45 at-bats this spring. His last best season was in 2007 with the Cubs when he was one of the key players in the second half of the season to carry them. In 2008 he was with Detroit and got released and he then went to Florida where it didn't take long for him to be released.

Why was last year so bad for him? Why has he struggled this year? I blame the Cubs. They traded him for Omar Infante, and he ended up getting traded also for Jose Ascanio. Ascanio was terrible last year. He played in five games which he gave up five runs over 5.2 innings. He gave up eight hits and had an era of 7.94. So those two transactions were a waste.

Jacque could have played right field with Fukudome last year. I think he would have played more since we all know how bad Kosuke was last year.

His 2007 stats weren't bad at all. Yeah there were times when he struggled, but every player has a cold spot during the season.

I blame the Cubs because if he hadn't been traded then he probably would have had an '08 season similar to '07.

Jacque was my favorite player in 2007 so I was really upset when I saw that he was released by the Reds. Before the '08 season I said it would be the Cubs and Tigers in the World Series and that Jacque would be the one to get the game winning hit to beat us. Obviously that didn't happen.

I really hope that someone picks him up and he can play this season.
