ESPN's Stuart Scott Announces Battle with Cancer Has Returned

Tim KeeneyJan 14, 2013

Beloved ESPN personality Stuart Scott announced via Twitter on Monday night that his cancer has unfortunately returned. Scott tweeted:

"

Blessed by prayers..I'm back in the Fight. C reared its head again. Chemo evry 2 wks but I'll still work, still work out..still #LIVESTRONG

Stuart Scott (@StuartScott) January 15, 2013"

Apparently, cancer is in the mood to lose. Again.

This is news that no one ever wants to hear, but if Scott's previous battles with cancer are any indication, the disease stands no chance this time around.

In late 2007, Scott had surgery to remove potentially cancerous tissue and was recommended to undergo preventive chemotherapy. In early 2011, he announced that his stomach cancer had returned, but once again, he battled through with incredible energy, passion and toughness.

And it appears he's ready to do the same this time around:

"

Here's what I do right aftr chemo. Leave the infusion center & go STRAIGHT 2 either do a p90x wkout or train MMA..THATS how you #LIVESTRONG

— Stuart Scott (@StuartScott) January 15, 2013"

Stuart Scott is one of the busiest people in the sports world, and it's now clear that he is easily one of the toughest, most inspiring human beings, too.

The outpour of support for Scott via Twitter was heartwarming.

Here are some kind words from ESPN's Kevin Negandhi:

"

@stuartscott praying for you for continued strength. You will beat this like you have in the past.

— Kevin Negandhi (@KNegandhiESPN) January 15, 2013"

Michael Smith put out his support and tweeted:

"

Hey @stuartscott we are praying and pulling for you! Sickness can't dwell in you!

— Michael Smith (@michaelsmith) January 15, 2013"

And from former ESPN Anchor Dana Jacobson:

"

@stuartscott thoughts and prayers with you.Stay strong.

— Dana Jacobson (@danajacobson) January 15, 2013"

Robert Griffin III also gave his prayers, writing,

"

Praying for you @stuartscott Get well my brother

— Robert Griffin III (@RGIII) January 15, 2013"

Millions of others likely echo the same sentiments, and we do too.

Scott has proven in the past there is truly nothing in the world that will bring his spirits or incredible work ethic down, and our hearts and prayers go out to him in making a speedy recovery back to 100 percent health.
