WWE News: AJ Lee Pulled from TLC Match

Gone Baby GoneSenior Analyst IIIJanuary 3, 2017

Well folks, it appears the WWE is still tweaking the card for this Sunday's TLC.

And, with the TLC pay-per-view less than a week away, one has to wonder if there will be even more changes as we draw closer to the event.

According to WrestlingInc.com:

WWE has removed AJ Lee from the "Santa's Little Helper's" #1 contender's battle royal set for the WWE TLC pre-show. Cameron and Naomi have been added in her place. The match will now feature 9 Divas - Cameron, Naomi, Kaitlyn, Layla, Natalya, Rosa Mendes, Tamina Snuka, Aksana and Alicia Fox.

Since there has been no announcement as to why she was pulled, I can only speculate that she will have some sort of program with Vickie Guerrero. However, I could be wrong and she may be pulled from the card all together.

Ultimately, it seems the WWE has been struggling to find a decent spot for AJ since her demise as general manager. Don't get me wrong, it's not like she's missing out on a 5-star match on Sunday. Especially considering, this particular match is slated for the YouTube Pre-Show. Overall, this is truly just a gimmick match used to show off the WWE's attractive Divas, rather than showcasing their wrestling ability.

Let's face it: When you barely make time for a Divas match on your weekly TV shows, chances are, you're not going to give them a lot of time during monthly pay-per-views. So, AJ really isn't losing out on much here.

In the end, AJ has done a great job separating herself from the Divas division. The WWE gave her a huge role and she ran with it, proving that one woman can be bigger than the title and division. The fact is, the Divas champion and division has been overshadowed by AJ's storylines for the majority of 2012. So, hopefully for her sake, the WWE isn't wearing thin on "crazy chicks" and she will have work for some time to come.
