Henrik Lundqvist, goalie for the born again New York Rangers, needed just 19 saved for his 30th win this season.

The Rangers beat the Nashville Predators, 4-2, and Lundqvist set a Rangers and NHL record by winning 30 games four-years in a row at the start of his career.

It is a record not even Martin Brodeur could reach.

Brodeur, goalie for the New Jersey Devils, moved within one victory of tying Patrick Roy for the most wins in NHL history.

Roy could tie the record in Montreal when the Devils play the Canadiens.

Millions are expected to be watching on CBC and RDS in Canada as well as the NHL Network and MSG Plus in the United States. Brodeur tries to tie one of the hockey's most revered records.

Brodeur recently returned from a four-month absence due to elbow surgery.
Lundqvist has a lot of years to play before he can compete with the win records of Roy and Brodeur.

Lundqvist is 30-20-7 with the Rangers this season and has a GAA of 2.5.

He has had a stomach bug for 10 days and has everyone puzzled as to what it is or how to kick it.

Lundqvist is considered the Rangers' franchise goaltender and the most important piece of their playoff hopes.

The illness kept him from playing in Monday night's loss at Carolina.

It was the Rangers only loss since ending a mid-season slump and starting a winning streak with new coach John Tortorella, the return of Sean Avery and trading for Nik Antropov.

Last Sunday Lundqvist stopped 36 of 39 shots and was brilliant late in a victory over NHL-leading Boston at the Garden. He spent the intermissions of that game vomiting in the dressing room.

He received intravenous fluids after the game and said he had lost so much that he took on two liters in about 20-minutes, according to
Newsday.

He feels pressure in his sternum when he eats.

The Rangers were losing the game against the Predators after the first period but came back to win after Tortorella peeled the paint off the locker room walls with a fiery speech.

Tortorella looked ready to reach the boiling point on the bench.

The Rangers dominated the second period, out shooting the Predators, 17-5.

Lundqvist and the Rangers face Brodeur and the Devils on Monday, March 30 at Madison Square Garden.
