WWE: A List Of My Favourites

Brendan O'NeillMar 6, 2009

Hello all, well this seems to be a running theme for me here, another day at the office means another article can be typed up.

Given the amount of articles that are put up here daily, it is hard to pick a subject within WWE that is untouched by the masses. Not that I'm complaining as I like seeing other people's view and comments, it just means I have to think a bit harder as to what I want to write about. Today I thought I'd go with a self-involved article letting you know some of my Top Three Lists, from Divas to finishing moves and many more, anything I can think of really. Well, here goes:

TOP NEWS

WRESTLING: OCT 02 AEW Dynamite/Rampage Pittsburgh
Monday Night RAW

My Favourite three Divas (since I named that first, I felt it appropriate to start there). In order, Trish, Torrie Wilson, and Beth Phoenix. As you may notice, they are all blondes. Let my assure you that had nothing to do with it. OK, maybe a little. People may ask where is Lita in this? I wasn't really a fan of Lita's (probably because she wasn't blonde I hear you say).

There is almost a tie in my favourite finishers list, both The Pedigree and the so-far unseen in the WWE C4 (I think that's what it's called) by Paul Burchill run each other very close, but HHH's Pedigree just gets the nod. Third place would be Ken Shamrock's Ankle Lock. Every time it was applied it looked like he wanted to snap it. Couple of mentions for the worse finishers I've seen; R-Truth and Booker T's scissor kick is pathetic, Khali's Chop, Scotty 2 Hotty's The Worm. Last and definitely the worse of the bunch is Hulk Hogan and that Leg Drop. WTF how does a simple leg drop win matches? I'm still baffled.

Next up on my list is, favourite wrestlers. 1 - John Cena, ever since his debut against Kurt Angle I've been a fan. All the so called "smart fans" or "sheep" as I like to refer to them will definitely not like that choice, but Cena provides entertainment and like it or not has given great matches, his hour long match against HBK being one of them and please don't say HBK can make anyone look good. Kind of got side tracked there, 2 - Triple H, because he is that damn good lol. Number 3 would go to the big fish in the really small octagonal ring down in Florida, Kurt Angle. I haven't seen Kurt in TNA nor do I plan do, this is based on his time in WWE.

Now there have been many a great match held within a WWE ring, my favourite of all them by a long way was one that involves someone who isn't even a wrestler. Kurt Angle against Shane McMahon at King of the Ring 2001. Simply amazing, a match I could watch time and time again. The original Hell in a Cell match would be second, The Undertaker gave Mick Foley his greatest night, apart from his title win. In third place would be a match held in ECW a few years back, RVD versus Cena. The most hostile crowd I have ever seen, giving Cena so much abuse. Cena played off them really well and gave one of his best performances.

Tag teams, although a dying breed within WWE today, deserve to be mentioned. The New Age Outlaws are my all time favourite tag team. Every one includes The Hardy Boyz in their favourite tag team list and I'm not about to buck the trend. The third team I'll pick is Miz and Morrison. These two definitely click with each other, maybe not the most conventional tag team pairing to start off with, but have gotten better and better.

There are many more Top threes I could go through, but wouldn't want to run the risk of giving you all too much to read, if I don't read articles that are more than one page long, why should I ask that of you? Any thoughts on this article, good, bad or indifferent are welcome.
