College Football Week 2: Top 25 Game Predictions in 10 Minutes or Less

This season, I wanted to create a weekly article that distributes a lot of good information but only costs the reader a minimum amount of time.

It would be something that's an easy read for the newer football fans and still entertaining to the old pros.

To give the idea a try, I am using the current top 25 teams. I will list each in order, along with their opponent and give a game prediction. Then, I will give a very brief explanation of why.

Whether you are just learning the game or are an old pro, if you have just 10 minutes or less, you can increase your football knowledge and impress your friends—or, have something to debate me about here.

In keeping with the name, just forge on ahead, through the following slides, and get your college football top 25 winners.


This Week's Top 25 Through 20

No. 25 Stanford hosts Duke: Cutcliffe is a great offensive coordinator but not so much head coach.         Pick: Stanford 30-17

No. 24 Florida at Texas A&M: Welcome to the SEC, Aggies. Florida better than they looked.  Pick: Florida 21-17

No. 23 Louisville hosts Missouri State: Red birds too much for the Bears. Pick: Louisville 48-13

No. 22 Notre Dame hosts Purdue: Purdue is pretty good; Notre Dame is better. Pick: Notre Dame 28-24

No. 21 Kansas State hosts Miami, Fla.: Bill Snyder keeps it close at home. Pick: Miami 24-21

No. 20 TCU hosts Grambling State: Purple goes wild in first game of season. Pick: TCU 51-10

Top 19 through 15

No. 19 Michigan hosts Air Force: Air Force has a great offense; Michigan has a better team. Pick: Michigan 48-28

No. 18 Oklahoma State at Arizona: Rich Rod will get this team going but not this week. Pick: Oklahoma State 48-21

No. 17 Texas hosts New Mexico: Ugly and over early. Pick: Texas 44-7

No. 16 Nebraska at UCLA: Should be a pretty good ball game; Nebraska wins late. Pick: Nebraska 28-21

No. 15 Virginia Tech hosts Austin Peay: Snooze button! Coach Beamer can name the score. Pick: Virginia Tech 52-13


Top 14 through 9

No. 14 Ohio State hosts UCF: Old school vs. new school; new school wins. Pick: Ohio State 28-20

No. 13 Wisconsin at Oregon State: Improved Beavers hang for a half, maybe more. Pick: Wisconsin 30-17

No. 12 Clemson hosts Ball State: Another team looking for a paycheck. Pick: Clemson 56-21

No. 11 Michigan State at Central Michigan: Much improved Chippewas good for a half. Pick: Michigan State 35-14

No. 9 (Tie) West Virginia hosts James Madison: The Dukes need to duck! Pick: West Virginia 48-7

No. 9 (Tie) South Carolina hosts East Carolina: East Carolina has offense, but SC has defense.          Pick: South Carolina 38-17


This Week's Top 8 Teams

No. 8 Arkansas hosts Louisiana Monroe: Too much Arkansas, not enough Warhawks. Pick: Arkansas 45-7

No. 7 Georgia at Missouri: Old man football? Won any titles in your old league lately? Pick: Georgia 34-20

No. 6 Florida State hosts Savannah State: Someone came up with a line of 70.5. Pick: Florida State 64-0

No. 5 Oklahoma hosts Florida A&M: Them Rattlers are about to get rattled. Pick: Oklahoma 55-7

No. 4 Oregon hosts Fresno State: Ducks...not even close. Pick: Oregon 57-21

No. 3 LSU hosts Washington: LSU will win the ballgame. Can Washington stay close? Pick: LSU 35-14

No. 2 USC hosts Syracuse: No problem with the Orange for USC. Pick: USC 42-14

No. 1 Alabama hosts Western Kentucky: Hilltoppers are a decent football team; so is Bama. Pick: Alabama 38-18
