Arsenal EPL News: Gunners Have That Good Feeling Again
Oh, oh, sometimes I get a good feeling.
I get a feeling that I never, ever, ever had before, no, no.
I get a good feeling yeah.
Yes, Arsenal have that good feeling again after breaking their goal-scoring drought and earning their first win of the season. Morale is high, the confidence is up, and the Gunners mean business again in the English Premier League—at least according to defender Per Metresacker, who spoke to the Gunners official website following the victory:
We believed in ourselves [against Liverpool] - that was the most important thing and we played fantastic. We had to believe a lot, because our squad has had many changes and some important players have moved.
We didn't know where we stood, but we are very happy now. You could see it in the dressing room directly after the match. We are very proud to play for Arsenal. We had a great opportunity here to show everybody what Arsenal is.
We now have to focus on our strengths and that is vital for the next few weeks, to stay near the top of the league. A lot of challenges are coming after the international break but we are looking forward to them because we are full of confidence—We showed that against Liverpool.
And after watching the Gunners find their groove again, there is genuine cause for confidence at the North London club despite only attaining one win from their opening three matches in the English Premier League.
New summer recruits Santi Cazorla and Lukas Podolski are starting to jell well together, with the former of those two players already lighting up the Premier League.
Abou Diaby looks like a brand new player, their defense is yet to concede a Premier League goal (the only team to do so) and the Gunners are beginning to look like the formidable side that many thought they would be this season.
But the best part for Arsenal is still yet to come, with two players set to return from injury in the next few weeks—providing a huge boost for the Gunners right across the pitch.
According to Physio Room, starting goalkeeper Wosjiech Szczesny is set to return from his rib injury for the Gunners' Premier League clash against Southampton on September 15—solidifying their defensive unit even more than it has already been.
Manager Arsene Wenger has also confirmed that midfielder Jack Wilshere will return from injury in the next few weeks (via The Daily Mirror)—stating that the 20-year-old is starting to look "very good" in training.
Wilshere is one of the hottest youngsters in the Premier League and could become one of the Gunners' star players this season—particularly with the excellent additions ahead of him on the field in Cazorla and Podolski.
Thus with winning results back at the Emirates and the goal-scoring banks open, it's understandable why there's a good feeling starting to go around Arsenal at the moment.
It is only one result, but with Szczesny and Wilshere set to return this month and star striker Olivier Giroud yet to truly make an impact in the Premier League, you can guarantee that several more results will come for the North London club this season.
And that truly will be a good feeling.
Would you consider that Arsenal are "back" after beating Liverpool?
