Arsenal Transfer Rumors: Gunners on Right Track with Pursuit of Yohan Cabaye
In an effort to patch the hole created by the departure of Alex Song, Arsenal is wisely kicking the tires on Newcastle midfielder Yohan Cabaye.
The Daily Mail's Simon Jones shared the information of the Gunners' interest. Jones:
"Arsenal are considering a £15million move for Newcastle midfielder Yohan Cabaye as Arsene Wenger looks to bring in two players this week.

For his part, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has openly admitted his club is on the hunt for an upgrade, while also shooting down one candidate for that upgrade. Wenger, as quoted by Jones:
"I'm pleased with what I have, but yes I anticipate that we will do something. Defensive midfielder? It depends on the quality of the players available. Tiote is a good player, but he's not on the way to Arsenal.
"
The Gunners are trying to replace Song's box-to-box talents. He brought them solid defense, but he was also a key piece to igniting the offense, and Arsenal has been sorely missing that.
Arsenal's offense has stalled to a state of complete ineffectiveness as they have tallied precisely zero goals in their two EPL matches this year. Cabaye, while he should not be mistaken for Song, could help this squad work the ball up the pitch.
The 26-year-old had four goals and six assists in EPL play with Newcastle in 34 Premier League matches. In his previous two seasons, spent with Lille, he netted 15 league goals and 17 assists.
Arsenal needs a defensive midfielder that can add some kind of spark to their stagnant offense. Cabaye is a nice starting point.
