Final Score: Pittsburgh 38, Buffalo 7
Game Information and Introduction:
The third game of the preseason is the most important contest for each team. This is the best dress rehearsal for the regular season. Teams will play their first units on offense and defense longer than in any of the other three games. Playbooks will likely be slightly expanded. This is the closest thing to real NFL football during the preseason.
These two teams most recently squared off in 2010, an overtime victory for the Steelers.
Tonight, the big focus for each team will be on consistency. The Steelers have been very explosive and very conservative at different points on offense. The same goes for the Bills. Each team will try to find a groove against a good defensive unit.
The Steelers are still piecing together a talented backfield. Isaac Redman will be returning from injury tonight to a group that has seen breakout work by Chris Rainey and steady contributions from Baron Batch and Jonathan Dwyer. The running game deserves close attention by viewers.
For Buffalo, keep an eye on the receivers. The Bills have a lot of talent at the position, but exactly how the roles shake out isn't certain. Stevie Johnson is the top guy, but he can't do it all alone. Ryan Fitzpatrick should get a good chance tonight to try to gain some chemistry with the other players.
