With WWE’s 2012 SummerSlam upon us, there are rumors flying about what kind of wild storyline twists fans could be expecting at the company’s second-biggest pay-per-view of the calendar year.

While many fans have called out conspiracy theories for weeks about this event, now that it is here, the writing on the wall has become very clear in some spots. In most cases, though, WWE has done a great job hiding any monumental changes.

Just because the WWE has hidden the storyline changes from the public doesn’t mean the smart wrestling fans haven’t put their finger on what they could be.

All of the following are possibilities for what the WWE could have up its sleeve.

CM Punk’s nWo

With the talk of CM Punk and Paul Heyman possibly working together to form some sort of stable, the rumors are running rampant about exactly how and when that could happen.

SummerSlam is as big of a stage as you could want at this time of year, so starting a storyline as epic in proportions as a heel stable featuring Punk and Heyman to build for WrestleMania is something that could easily happen.

Add in a possible stable member with Brock Lesnar, and there is little doubt that the WWE could reform the nWo with members just as strong as the first incarnation. Old-school wrestling fans can only hope for a return of the black and white.

Shawn Michaels Costs Triple H a Win

With Triple H and Brock Lesnar ready to conclude what has been a dream match 10 years in the making, the looming story on the backburner here is Shawn Michaels and his broken arm.

While he says he won’t be there, HBK will make his presence felt Sunday; in a big way too.

This will be an absolute battle that will feature an even match until Brock turns the tables and starts to destroy Triple H. The beating will get uncomfortable to watch, and HBK will run out to make the save.

With one swing of his superkick, Shawn Michaels will kick his best friend in the face and Brock will win easily. That ending will give the WWE the option to play this storyline out anyway they want.

Most likely this will let Brock move on and start the eventual feud between HBK and Triple H.

Wade Barrett and Dolph Ziggler Steal the Spotlight

Now that the match is official, there is little doubt that the worst build of any matchup at SummerSlam 2012 has been the World Heavyweight Championship bout between Alberto del Rio and Sheamus.

With that said, there is a chance that this match steals all the headlines on Monday morning, as long as Wade Barrett and Dolph Ziggler get involved.

Whoever wins this match—whether Sheamus retains or Del Rio steals a win thanks to Ricardo—Wade Barrett needs to return and destroy the champion right then and there. After the thrashing, Ziggler hits the ring and wins his world title.

After 20 seconds of booking, my world title picture is leagues better than WWE’s. Now can YOU dig that, sucka?
