Adria Gasol, the brother of Pau and Marc, has enrolled at UCLA and will walk-on to the men's basketball team next season, Yahoo! Sports Jeff Eisenberg reports.
Although his brothers are NBA players, fans should not expect too much out of Adria. The 18-year-old is not expected to see much playing time with the Bruins, according to Eisenberg. Fans may only see him during blowouts; he is a walk-on, after all.
Gasol was not expected to play basketball growing up, and he barely played in his first two years at Lausanne High School in Memphis. He spent the past two years in Spain but will come back to the United States for college.
His family's basketball background makes him an interesting story, but he is not expected to be a star like his brothers. The youngest Gasol will join a Bruins team that is trying to return to national prominence. The team includes three players who have transferred from the University of North Carolina, including highly touted point guard Larry Drew.
Gasol will be one of four players who is 6'10".
UCLA will go to China next week for an exhibition tour, but Gasol will not travel with the team. He will begin practicing with the team this fall.
He may have a famous last name, but the Bruins will lean on famed freshman Shabazz Muhammad (if eligible), Tony Parker and Kyle Anderson with hopes of winning the Pac-12 and making the NCAA tournament.
