McKayla Still Not Impressed but a Good Sport on "Late Show with David Letterman"

Gabe ZaldivarPop Culture Lead WriterNovember 23, 2016

McKayla Maroney and the rest of the Fab Five were on the Late Show with David Letterman, and she was still very much unimpressed.

Many of you have stopped by the meme-centric Tumblr, McKayla is Not Impressed. If not, I encourage you to take just a couple minutes to see how one look can be extrapolated to hilarious ends.

It's time for every Olympic star to do the late-night rounds on TV. This time, the young women who thrilled us with their golden tumbles and flips in gymnastics stopped by to chat with David Letterman.

When the conversation got to Maroney, the new meme was brought up and all the girls chimed in with giddy delight.

It seems the website and the meme is beloved by all the girls, including Maroney, who could very easily be sensitive about the subject.

Instead, she owns the moment when she took silver and the hilarious fallout from the look she gave. Maroney, a gold medalist in the team competition, is truly a great sport.

Though, there is one baby hiccup to all this.

Memes lose their pizazz once the subject gets in on the joke. When that happens, the punchline loses a little punch.

Once Maroney became the least bit impressed, we all lost the greatest meme from the Olympics. The curtain has been pulled back to reveal a genuinely enthusiastic young athlete. While that's not as funny, it's certainly more enjoyable.
