Manchester United Transfer News: United Linked with Astonishing Move for Falcao

Max TowleJun 7, 2018

Atletico Madrid's Colombian hotshot Falcao has been linked with just about all of world football's top clubs in the past few months, but not yet Manchester United.

This has now changed, with Generaccion, a Spanish-language paper known for stoking the fire, producing this particularly juicy piece of gossip yesterday (h/t manutd.com).

The article states that United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is a huge admirer of the Colombian and is weighing up the possibility of making a bid, sensing that Atletico might be willing to part with their prize asset.

In a link that is sure to get the rumour mill buzzing, any who have seen the striker in action know just how deadly he is, and he would be a safe bet to light up the Premier League if a move was to take place.

Falcao is arguably the finest world player in the air for his height, and he's a clinical finisher as well, having scored an eye-watering 36 goals in all competitions, including two in the Europe League final for the Spanish outfit.

However, many will point to the wealth of options already available for Sir Alex in attack as reason for doubting that such a move will take place.

With Danny Welbeck and Javier Hernandez in need of playing time, and Wayne Rooney unlikely to abandon ship, whether or not big money needs to be spent on another striker—however good he may be—is a question that is bound to arise.

Nevertheless, Falcao would surely be a welcome addition to the club, if Sir Alex does decide that three forwards isn't enough.
