NBA Trade Rumors: Brooklyn Nets Discuss Dwight Howard Trade with Orlando Magic
Just as everyone thought the Brooklyn Nets were out of the Dwight Howard sweepstakes after making a proposed trade for Joe Johnson (per ESPN) with the Atlanta Hawks, ESPN's Chris Broussard has reported that the Nets are very much still in the hunt for the NBA's most dominate center.
Broussard tweeted:
"
"Sources: The Nets & Magic are discussing a trade that would send Dwight Howard to Brooklyn for Briik Lopez, Kris Humphies, Marshon Brooks...
— Chris Broussard (@Chris_Broussard) July 3, 2012""
and continued with a separate tweet:
"
"(con't) and the Nets' first-round picks in 2012, 2014, 2016 & 2018....move would give Nets Big 3 of D-Will, Dwight & Joe Johnson
— Chris Broussard (@Chris_Broussard) July 3, 2012""
If this speculated deal can come to fruition, on paper the Nets will become one of the favorites to contend for the NBA title next season.
Of course, everything will depend on how the new pieces would gel and play together on the court. But with the addition of Howard and Johnson to Deron Williams—who would most likely re-sign with he Nets if Howard chooses Brooklyn—there is no doubt that the talent level to win it all would be there in Brooklyn.
The Miami Heat and their Big Three of LeBron James, Chris Bosh and Dwayne Wad may have to enjoy their one title together, as the Nets will give them everything they can handle in the Eastern Conference with their possible Big Three of Williams, Howard and Johnson in the Nets' first season in Brooklyn.
