WWE News: Goldberg Possibly Returning to the WWE to Face Brock Lensar?

Chris HumphreyJun 7, 2018

Since his return to the WWE the night following WrestleMania 28 this past April, Brock Lesnar has already faced off with John Cena in a brutal match at Extreme Rules in April and will more than likely have a match with Triple H at SummerSlam.

With his future beyond his match with the Game at SummerSlam uncertain, there is talk among the fans on when Lesnar’s next match will be this year and who his opponent will be at that event.

Here are the details from PWInsider.com (via WrestlingInc.com) on what former superstar might want to step back into the ring to face off with Brock Lensar in the ring.

Bill Goldberg, who last competed for WWE in 2004, reportedly contacted Brock Lesnar about returning to the sports entertainment organization to work an angle with him. Lesnar, however, only has two major dates left on his current contract; Triple H at SummerSlam and whoever his WrestleMania XXIX opponent will be.

While many names are being tossed around as Lesnar’s opponent at next year’s WrestleMania 29, the WWE should bring back Goldberg for the match against the former UFC heavyweight instead of the name brought up the most as his opponent, the Undertaker.

If the WWE did schedule for Lesnar to challenge the Undertaker and his undefeated streak, the majority of fans would walk into that match believing that there is no way the Phenom would have his record broken by a part-timer like Lesnar.

In the end, the possible rematch of Goldberg vs. Brock Lesnar could help get rid of the awful taste from the fan’s mouths of what was their awful match at WrestleMania 20 in 2004 as the two superstars were on their way out of the company.

With Goldberg possibly making a return to the WWE to face Brock Lesnar, would you like to see Lesnar and Goldberg have another match, or should he just stay in retirement after leaving the company in 2004?
