Arsenal FC: 5 Reasons Marco Reus Would Have Been a Good Addition to the Gunners

0 of 6

In Germany's quarterfinal match of the Euros against Greece, Marco Reus got to start in the right wing position that Tomas Müller usually plays in. It was a chance for him to prove himself. He managed to do so by scoring one of the four goals of the match.

While commentating for the French TV station TF1, Arsène Wenger had nothing but positive words to describe the German forward.

By the looks of it, he probably would have considered signing the player. However, it would be too late, as Reus already agreed on a deal to leave Borussia Mönchengladbach and join Borussia Dortmund.

But if Arsenal had actually managed to sign Marco Reus, he would have benefited the Gunners greatly. Here are seven reasons why the German star would have flourished at Arsenal.

He Is a Young Player Who Would Fit in at Arsenal

1 of 6

Marco Reus is a very talented player, and he's only 23 years old.

He had his best season last season for Borussia Mönchengladbach, scoring 21 goals in 37 appearances for the German club. To add to that, he had 10 assists.

He is a full attacking package.

This is the kind of player that Arsenal need.

Reus has a long career ahead of him, so he has a lot of time to evolve as a player.

Many of the young players that Arsenal have acquired have flourished over the years. Examples include Cesc Fábregas, Samir Nasri and Robin van Persie. Marco Reus could have been a player that progressed like them at Arsenal.

The environment at Arsenal is such that young players can flourish.

It is the kind of place where a player like Marco Reus could succeed.

He Is a Great, Speedy Dribbler Who Can Beat Players One-on-One

Marco Reus has many skills up his sleeve in terms of his football abilities.

One of his strong abilities is dribbling.

Many of his 21 goals in the past season came from dribbling players with finesse.

At Arsenal, there aren't really any players who can take players one-on-one.

Robin van Persie can put up some nice dribbling moves, but it just isn't enough. The club needs more in terms of dribbling talent.

Young star Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has shown in previous matches that he can dribble players, but ultimately, Arsenal need more dribbling talent.

That is something that Marco Reus has.

He Is a Great Finisher

After dribbling players, Marco Reus uses his sublime finishing to score goals.

He has both a very good right foot and a very good left foot.

He can shoot from close range and from distance with class.

Arsenal have some great finishers like Robin van Persie and Mikel Arteta, and Theo Walcott is improving with each passing match.

Another fine finisher wouldn't be a bad addition for the Gunners.

He Would Have German Compatriots at Arsenal

One important part of football is chemistry.

It is very important to have teammates with whom you can get along and play well.

At the club where he is destined to play next season, Borussia Dortmund, he will have compatriots Mario Götze and Mats Hummels as teammates. It will benefit him in club football and in international football.

However, if he were to join Arsenal, he would have compatriots Per Mertesacker and Lukas Podolski as teammates. This would also benefit him, as Podolski and Mertesacker are experienced players.

If he were to join the Gunners, it could help him fit in better at Arsenal having two other German players to help him.

As a Young, Talented Player, He Could Inspire Other Youngsters to Perform Better

5 of 6

As I mentioned earlier, Marco Reus is a very talented player, and he is only 23 years old.

At Arsenal, there are many young players who have a load of potential.

Look at players like Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Jack Wilshere (ages 18 and 20, respectively).

They have many years of football ahead of them, and yet they are already quite talented.

If Marco Reus joined Arsenal, he could inspire some youngsters to perform to their best.

So many young players at Arsenal have potential, and if they see a young player putting his talent to the pitch, it could inspire them to do the same.

Despite all the benefits that could come from this signing, Marco Reus won't be signing for Arsenal.

He is going to be playing for Borussia Dortmund next season.

Ultimately, there are a few traits that lack at Arsenal, such as skilled dribbling, distance shooting and more.

Marco Reus is a player with those kinds of skills, and his inclusion in a squad like Arsenal's would benefit each other player.

This kind of player could inspire the others, and it could make Arsenal an even bigger threat in the coming season.

So, do you think Marco Reus would be a good Arsenal signing?

    Thanks for reading!
