Arsenal Transfer News: Gunners Would Claim Title If RVP Snubbed Juventus

Ryan RudnanskyJun 5, 2018

Under pressure to appease Robin van Persie, Arsenal has already gone out and signed Germany's Lukas Podolski and appear close to landing Montpellier striker Olivier Giroud.

Still, Van Persie has a few notable suitors, including Manchester City, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Juventus.

But if Van Persie decides to stay with the Gunners, it would be a mighty impressive squad, especially up front.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger seemed rather confident on Wednesday, telling Italian newspaper La Repubblica, via ESPN:

"

He will stay at Arsenal. There is no reason why a top player, a big champion would want a move to Serie A - in terms of the prestige of the league, the level of play or financial considerations.

"

Although "financial considerations" are, indeed, a reason why Van Persie would leave for Juventus, Arsenal is still making a case as to why he should stay at Emirates. Beyond Giroud, they've been linked to 21-year-old France midfielder Yann M'Vila. Imagine Van Persie, Podolski and Giroud up front, with M'Vila working the pitch—that may be reason enough for Van Persie to stay.

Although Arsenal would still have to add some defensive depth to adequately contend with the likes of Manchester City and Manchester United, the prospect of having a foursome of Van Persie, Podolski, Giroud and M'Vila would be a huge boost for the club. That's a combination that could dazzle in the Premier League with some work, and bring City and United to their knees.

Van Persie produced 52 percent of Arsenal's 74 goals last season (30 goals, nine assists). A balanced attack could prove to be just the edge the Gunners need to lift the trophy.
