Arsenal Transfer News: £30 Million Price Tag on RVP Is Spot on
I'm sure you could buy a lot of things with £30 million.
That's what it would reportedly cost you for one Robin van Persie if you wanted to obtain his services from Arsenal, according to Mirror Football.
£30 million is spot on. Not spot on in terms of his actual value because nary a professional athlete is worth that kind of money, but spot on meaning that £30 million is the perfect asking price for van Persie.

Arsenal obviously reserves the right to choose where van Persie can transfer, meaning that management can send van Persie to a place where he would have minimal impact on the club in the future.
According to the Mirror Football report, RVP is being courted by Manchester City, one of the only teams in the conversation that has the available funds and a rivalry with the Gunners. If van Persie doesn't wind up with City, Arsenal would be home free in terms of shipping their star striker to a place where he won't come back to bite them.
Serie A club Juventus was mentioned in the report. They very well would be able to provide the necessary compensation to bring van Persie to Turin, as the Agnelli family has their pockets plenty stuffed.
Van Persie's transfer to Juventus wouldn't hurt the Gunners as much as a transfer to City would. Even if it did in the future, £30 million will heal most wounds.
Paris St. Germain was also included in the report. Van Persie's transfer to the Paris-based club would hardly be a threat to make the Gunners regret their inability to retain the Dutch striker.
There's no denying that £30 million is a very high total for any club to pay for one player. If that kind of money is tied up in one athlete, the club's future acquisitions will be severely impacted in the future.
That amount of money might be just enough to scare some other clubs away. At the very least, it will force prospective contenders to think long and hard about bringing RVP to their grounds, a time in which van Persie may fold and commit to the Gunners for next season.
This situation has been a war of attrition between the two sides, and it seems it will remain one for some time. Arsenal's best chance is to play the waiting game with van Persie and see if he decides to end this fiasco.
