Arsenal Transfer Rumors: Signing Yann M'Vila May Keep Van Persie at Emirates

Ryan RudnanskyJun 7, 2018

Arsenal has already signed Germany's Lukas Podolski and has been linked to Montpellier striker Olivier Giroud. Signing Rennes midfielder Yann M'Vila would make it difficult for Robin van Persie to leave Emirates.

The French newspaper Le Parisien recently claimed that Arsenal and Rennes had agreed to a fee for M'Vila, per HereIsTheCity.com.

Van Persie wants to win, and win now. Arsenal must upgrade its roster significantly for the side to keep the 28-year-old striker. After placing third in the Premier League this past season, there's a lot of pressure to contend with powerhouses Manchester City and Manchester United.

The signing of Podolski in late April was a step in the right direction. Podolski — known for his striking ability, speed and ball control — scored 18 goals in 29 appearances for FC Koln in the Bundesliga in 2011-2012.

Landing Giroud would be the next piece to the puzzle. Giroud scored 21 goals for Montpellier this past season. Alongside Van Persie and Podolski, he would complete a dynamic goal-scoring trio.

You combine those three, then combine M'Vila with Mikel Arteta, Jack Wilshere and Alex Song in the midfield, and you have a very strong club. Van Persie may give Arsenal a bargain price with that kind of talent on the team.

M'Vila has said that he won't make his decision until after Euro 2012, where he has become a regular for France at just 21 years of age. Gunners defender and French teammate Laurent Koscielny has already been trying to convince him to join Arsenal, per Goal.com.

If the Gunners land M'Vila that may change everything and propel them to the Premier League title next season, complete with Van Persie.
