Arsenal Transfer News: Alan Dzagoev Would Be Perfect Addition to Gunners' Attack

Austin GreenJun 7, 2018

Arsenal is pursuing young midfielder Alan Dzagoev, and although they haven't had the best of luck with Russian transfers (see: Arshavin, Andrey), they should pull the trigger on the rising star.

The 21-year-old Dzagoev has always been well-known in his native country, but he recently has risen to world-wide recognition with his stellar play at Euro 2012. Dzagoev scored two goals in Russia's 4-1 rout of the Czech Republic in their opening match, displaying the quickness and creativity that has made him a hot commodity in the transfer window.

With his technical skill, expert touch and ability to find space in the defense, Dzagoev would be an excellent addition to an Arsenal attack that may be losing Robin van Persie.

Although Dzagoev certainly couldn't replace the world-class talent of Van Persie, he would provide the Gunners with a perfect mix of potential and experience.

As an 18-year-old, Dzagoev became the youngest outfield player ever to compete for Russia, earning some playing time against Germany in the 2010 World Cup.

Tuesday will already be his 22nd appearance with the national team. He has scored six goals in those games, to go along with 26 career goals in 102 appearances with his club team, CSKA Moscow.

Dzagoev is very young and he's got years of world-class football ahead of him, but he's also ready to contribute right away.

The Gunners should roll the dice and pick up Dzagoev, even if the price tag looks a little scary. If they don't, he could sign with a rival and hurt Arsenal for years to come.
