Arsenal will certainly be looking to reload during this transfer period after falling short of winning a Premier League trophy for the seventh season in a row.

Making things worse was the Gunners failure to advance far during the FA Cup, League Cup and most importantly Champions League, compared to rivals Manchester City and Manchester United.

The one bright spot for Arsenal this season was star striker Robin van Persie, who scored 30 goals during the Premier League season, 37 goals in total, to take home the Barclays Golden Boot and eventually the PFA Player of the Year and FWA Footballer of the Year Awards for the first time.

The Gunners desperately need to bring in some support for van Persie during this transfer period, as Theo Walcott was the only other player on the team who managed to score over 10 goals.

Here are the latest transfer rumors surrounding Arsenal:

Venezuelan striker Salomon Rondon

Arsene Wenger is reportedly interested in bringing 22-year-old Venezuelan striker Salomon Rondon to the Gunners to improve the teams scoring. Rondon has scored 27 goals since joining Malaga CF in 2010 and helped them earn a Champions League berth last season.

According to Tuttosport, Wenger has reportedly been informed that it will take around €18m (£14.5m) to bring the striker over to Arsenal.

We’ll find out soon if this is a price Wenger and Arsenal is willing to pay.

Argentine midfielder Lucas Biglia

According to Fox Sports, Arsenal has held preliminary talks with 26-year old Argentine midfielder Lucas Biglia. Biglia is currently the captain of the Belgian club, Anderlecht, and just led them to their second straight Belgian league title.

Biglia is still under contract through 2015, but believes if an offer is made to Anderlecht in the £8m region, then his services could be had.

He is quoted saying,

"Real Madrid and Arsenal have both been in contact. I am still under contract with Anderlecht until 2015 but they know that I plan to leave. If a club offers the right price, Anderlecht will let me go."

French striker Olivier Giroud

According to Talksport, Arsene Wenger has made the striker from Montpellier, Olivier Giroud, his number one target to pair with Robin van Persie.

Arsenal will have some competition to acquire Giroud though, as Malaga is also looking to have the French striker join their club.

Montpellier will certainly look forward to a bidding war between Arsenal and Malaga for the 25-year old, so we’ll see which team wants him more in the end.

French midfielder Yann M’Vila

It appears the French midfielder has narrowed his transfer decision down to two teams, Arsenal and Real Madrid.

The 21-year-old has not only proved he’s worthy of a spot with the Gunners from his phenomenal play with French club, Rennes, but he also comes highly recommended by French teammate and current Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny. Koscielny had this to say about Yann possibly joining him at Arsenel,

"Yann is a player with enormous quality. He is strong on the ball and has great vision. He can triumph in an important competition like the Premier League.”
