NASCAR Suspends Kurt Busch, Extends Probation to December 31

Alex KayJun 7, 2018

Kurt Busch is in trouble with NASCAR again.

The 2004 NASCAR Nextel Cup winner is going to be suspended until June 13 and will be on probation until Dec. 31 for his questionable language and attitude during an interview following a Nationwide Series event on June 2 at Dover International Speedway.

Busch told a reporter that the only reason he didn’t “beat the (expletive) out of” him for asking stupid questions was because he is on probation.

Per the official report, Busch violated section 12-1 of the sport’s rule book and is being punished for “actions detrimental to stock car racing; violation of probation; verbal abuse to a media member.”

Considering that the 33-year-old was already on probation through July 25 for an incident that occurred during a Sprint Cub Series race at Darlington Raceway back on May 12, it’s not hard to see why he’s going to be suspended.

Busch’s behavior has been wild and the driver was also hit with a $50,000 fine for reckless driving and an altercation with Ryan Newman’s crew following that race.

This certainly isn’t the first time that Busch has been suspended.

Back in November 2005, Roush Racing cut their reigning champion’s season short for repeated instances of reckless driving on the track and a major incident involving alcohol, belligerence and the police off of it.

This current suspension means that Busch will miss the Pocono 400, which will be held on June 10 at Pocono Raceway in Pennsylvania.
