With the rumors spreading about Brock Lesnar and Triple H battling at this year’s SummerSlam, the news has been been silent on who WWE Champion CM Punk will face at the WWE’s second-biggest event of the year outside of WrestleMania each April.
In the storylines taking place at this moment, Punk is in a feud with both Daniel Bryan and Kane as the trio of superstars will face off for the WWE Championship at No Way Out later this month on June 17 in East Rutherford, N.J.
Here are the details from F4WOnline.com (via WrestlingInc.com) on who the Second City Saint will face at SummerSlam in Los Angeles this August.
CM Punk is reportedly scheduled to wrestle Big Show at SummerSlam.
The two previously faced off at the pay-per-view event in 2010, with Big Show defeating Punk, Joseph Mercury and Luke Gallows in a 3-on-1 Handicap Match. This year's show takes place Aug. 19 at the STAPLES Center in Los Angeles, California.
Instead of the strange matchup of Punk taking on the Big Show at SummerSlam, the WWE should see they have a great thing going with the feud between Punk and Bryan after their instant classic at Over the Limit in May.
As seen in the decline in the ratings for Raw SuperShow this past Monday, the creative team should definitely rethink putting the Big Show in a feud with CM Punk, whether it be for the WWE Championship or just a standard feud.
For SummerSlam, the WWE should figure out a way to continue the feud between Punk and Bryan so they can face each other at the marquee event in a possible Iron Man match or Submission match for the WWE Championship.
With Punk-Big Show being reportedly scheduled for SummerSlam this August, what matchup would be your pick if it’s not the aforementioned matchup that will likely vastly disappoint the fans of the WWE?
