Arsenal Transfer Rumours: Gunners Should Bid for Real Madrid Starlet Joselu
According to recent reports in the Daily Express, Arsene Wenger is considering making a move for Real Madrid second team player Joselu. The young striker netted 22 goals this season as part of Real Madrid's B squad.
At 6'3", Joselu offers a strong aerial threat and is a powerful presence in attack. He plays with the physicality and movement of a natural centre forward. Capturing a 22-year-old from a Spanish reserve team may not be the kind of signing many are expecting from Arsenal, as the club tries to convince Robin van Persie to stay.
However, Wenger has a good track record of signing talented youngsters from Spain. The Gunners boss snared both Cesc Fabregas and Ignasi Miquel from Barcelona's youth setup.

Joselu could well follow suit, as he is expected to command a fee in the region of £4 million. He would give Arsenal the aerial prowess they currently lack and provide ample cover for the forward line.
Even if Van Persie stays, the Gunners need better strength in depth for their attacking trio. While Ju Young Park and Nicklas Bendtner are obvious candidates to be moved on, Marouane Chamakh's additional departure would leave Arsenal very thin at striker.
Signing a player like Joselu, who wouldn't have the work permit issues faced by starlet Joel Campbell, would allow Arsenal to feel comfortable about selling Chamakh. Arsenal's rumoured interest in Joselu also continues the pattern of the Gunners targeting strikers with greater height.
Wenger has already been linked with a move for Montpellier powerhouse Olivier Giroud, according to Metro. It seems the Arsenal boss is intent on adding an extra dimension to Arsenal's attacking style for the new season.
