Arsenal Transfer News: Olivier Giroud Would Be a Fine Addition to Gunners Attack
Montpellier striker Olivier Giroud would be a fantastic addition to the Arsenal squad for next season, as the Gunners look to find players who can lessen the scoring burden on captain Robin van Persie.
The Dutch star led Arsenal with 30 goals last season, and the next-highest scorer was Theo Walcott, who only managed eight goals.
According to the Mirror, the Gunners are looking to bring the Frenchman to London:
"Arsenal have made an £6.5million bid for Montpellier striker Olivier Giroud.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is understood to be ready to offer a cash plus player deal involving Emirates misfit Marouane Chamakh.
"
Giroud, like Chamakh, is incredibly difficult to defend in the air because of his phenomenal heading ability.
Chamakh hasn't been able to make much of an impact during his two years at Arsenal after arriving to the club in the summer of 2010 from Ligue 1 side Bordeaux.
To be fair to the Moroccan, he hasn't been given many opportunities by manager Arsene Wenger to succeed, since he barely saw the pitch this season.
The fact that Giroud made France's squad for Euro 2012 proves he is ready to take his talents to one of Europe's elite clubs.
Arsenal would be wise to sign Giroud and make him a big part of the club's future.
