What Weโre Watching
The Clay Courts
The courts of Roland Garros are world renowned for their red clay surfaces and how hard they are to master at times. While a star like Rafael Nadal has conquered the courts, even the greatest in the world have trouble taming the clay-court beast.
If Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic can struggle at times on clay, there is no reason to believe that the courts wonโt play a serious role in the outcome of the tournament for both the men and the women.
The Tough Menโs Division
With Andy Murray, Nadal, Federer and Djokovic all competing at the French Open, there is no reason to think that fans wonโt get at least three of the best possible matchups the menโs division could offer.
Until someone proves they are more dominant than Nadal on clay, there is no way the fans and experts can pick against him. While Nadal has the inside lane to a win, it will not be an easy ride to the top.
The Wide-Open Womenโs Division
While there are plenty of strong women stars that could steal the show at Roland Garros, the battle everyone is watching for will be Maria Sharapova vs. Serena Williams.
With Williams and Sharapova drawn in the same quarter, the ideal finals matchup will happen much earlier. As bad as that is for the fans, getting to watch these two female stars battle any time is a pleasure.
