Arsenal Transfer News: Marouane Chamakh for Olivier Giroud Perfect for Gunners
Arsenal can't be afraid to extend themselves to land Montpellier's Olivier Giroud. The 25-year-old striker is in high demand right now, and for good reason.
Last season, he led his team to a Ligue 1 title by pouring in 21 goals in 36 matches. He is clearly starting to reach the peak of his abilities, and he is a valuable and coveted asset.
Of course, we don't need to tell Arsenal this. They already seem to be aware of this fact. The Metro is reporting that Arsenal is already trying to make a move for Giroud:

"Arsenal are hoping to do business on the cheap, with RMC reporting that manager Arsene Wenger is set to offer just over £6million in cash, plus a ready made replacement in [Marouane] Chamakh.
"
The reason this is reported as "on the cheap" is because Giroud has a buyout clause of £12.8 million. Not to mention that Chamakh was a big disappointment last season. He scored only once in 19 matches.
As Metro speculated, this likely isn't enough for Arsenal to land Giroud. If it is not, the Gunners shouldn't hesitate to sweeten the pot; Giroud is worth it.
He would fill a big need for the Gunners. Giroud is excellent at playing with his back to the goal, which is perfect for an Arsenal team that is often at a loss on outlet passes. Giroud is lethal in this role.
This will make them a much more complete team. The opposition will not be able to clog the middle to slow them down. The Gunners would be able to spread the field, which would open up the middle and greatly enhance their attack.
He is a perfect fit for the Gunners. They need to do everything in their power to land him.
