UFC News: Jon Jones Totals Bentley and Is Arrested for DUI in New York

UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones has seen his stock skyrocket after defeating four former champions at 205-pounds, but perhaps the success has introduced him to his worst enemy: himself.

According to a report on TMZ, "Bones" was arrested for driving under the influence around 5 a.m. Eastern Time, in his home state of New York. 

Jones allegedly crashed his Bentley into a pole and police arrested him on the scene for a DUI, the report says. The 24-year-old also was said to have totaled his car in the accident. 

The report also states that Jones was taken into custody by Broome County Sheriff and was bailed out a few hours later by his mother.

Sgt. Chris Lason, of the Broome County Sheriff's Department, confirmed the details with Bleacher Report, stating that Jones struck a utility pole at the intersection of Grand Boulevard and Helen Street, in the city of Binghamton, at 5:02 a.m. Saturday. 

Lason also indicated that Jones would be scheduled for an appearance at Binghamton court for his arraignment at a later date and that the accident report was not currently going to be released since it is part of an ongoing investigation.

Jones had an amazing 2011 inside the Octagon, defeating season eight winner of The Ultimate Fighter Ryan Bader, winning the title from Mauricio "Shogun" Rua, then successfully defending the belt against Quinton "Rampage" Jackson and Lyoto Machida. 

Jones secured a stoppage in all four of those victories.

Most recently, Jones defeated former Greg Jackson MMA teammate Rashad Evans via unanimous decision at UFC 145. 

Jones is yet to comment on the arrest, and UFC President Dana White simply told TMZ "Wow, I guess it's not my week is it?"

UPDATE: 2:31 p.m. Eastern Time

"I can confirm that Jon Jones was arrested early this morning on suspicion of DUI," stated manager Malki Kawa to MMA Junkie. "While the facts of this situation are still being gathered and situated, First Round Management fully supports Jon, and we are asking for fans and media to respect the privacy of Jon and his family during this time." 

Kawa stated that neither Jones nor his representatives will grant any interviews at this time.

In an interview with MMA Weekly last month, Jones said, "You never have to worry about me with a DWI (driving while under the influence) or doing something crazy.”
