USC Football Recruiting: Trojans Land Huge Verbal from 5-Star Tailback Ty Isaac

The Trojans' already massive class of the 2013 recruiting season just got even bigger with the announcement that Scout.com 5-star running back Ty Isaac has given his verbal pledge to join USC next year.

In Isaac, the Trojans get that big (6'2", 220 lbs) back that they have been missing since Marc Tyler graduated last year.

But they get so much more in the tailback stud from Joliet (Ill.) Catholic Academy High School.

Isaac isn't just a big back. He is also a fast and elusive runner who is a threat to take it to the house each and every time he touches the ball.

The Trojans beat out over 20 suitors for Isaac's services including powerhouses Oklahoma, Ohio State and Notre Dame.

With Isaac's verbal, USC addresses a position of extreme need as the running back position, already thin in 2012, empties even more with 1,000-yard rusher Curtis McNeal's graduation after this year.

For Isaac, who made a second trip to visit USC last week, the decision came down to where he could see himself playing at the next level and the honesty the coaching staff offered during his visits.

Talking to Scout.com, Isaac had this to say, "They were just real genuine," he explained, "not to say that any other school wasn't. Any school that I dealt with, that was in my top, had great people, great everything. It's just, this one set itself apart. Watching their practice, I liked the way they went out and handled their business. You know what you're getting from an SC team for the most part. The coaches, they showed a lot of interest and they were straight up and you can't ask for much more than that."

And the Trojans may not be done at this position yet.

Justin Davis, another 5-star running back from Stockton, Ca., is scheduled to announce his verbal as well, and the Trojans are thought to be heavy favorites for his services too.

To say the 2013 recruiting season is shaping up to be very special would be a huge understatement as the Trojans now have six verbals including three 5-star players along with three 4-stars.
