Manny Pacquiao: Why Pac-Man Has Earned Designation as All-Time Great

Ryan RudnanskyJun 7, 2018

Even if Manny Pacquiao never fights Floyd Mayweather Jr., he has earned his place as one of the greatest boxers in history.

And despite not dominating his past two fights against Shane Mosley and Juan Manuel Marquez, remember who Pacquiao has beaten throughout the years.

Pacquiao (54-3-2) has won his last 15 fights after losing to Erik Morales in March 2005. During his winning streak, Pacquiao has gotten revenge on Morales twice, beaten Marco Antonio Barrera, defeated Marquez twice, ended Oscar De La Hoya's career, knocked out Ricky Hatton and won via TKO against Miguel Cotto.

Pacquiao has passed the test time and time again, regardless of who was thrown at him. Remember, Cotto just gave Mayweather a heck of fight. By no means should Pacquiao have to fight Mayweather to prove his worth in history.

But it's even beyond who Pacquiao has beaten, or what his record is. Simply watching Pacquiao throughout the years has been a dazzling experience.

His speed and power, combined with his killer instinct and fortitude, have planted him as one of the greats. He's the complete package, and nothing, not even a loss to Mayweather, will change that fact.

It's sad that a fight between Pacquiao and Mayweather may never happen. Regardless of who lost, both will go down in history.

It would undoubtedly be a tremendous fight and potentially the bout of the generation. Both fighters have nothing to prove at this point. Put it this way: Joe Frazier lost to Muhammad Ali twice in his career, and he's still considered one of the greatest of all time.

However Pacquiao's career concludes, he has cemented his place in boxing history and he will always be remembered.
