WWE Extreme Rules Fan Diary Final Day: Predictions for the Event

The Doctor Chris MuellerJun 7, 2018

Thank you for checking out the final day of my Extreme Rules fan diary. Throughout this week, I have been reflecting on some of my favorite memories from my long history as a wrestling fan.

Today, I will be making my predictions for the outcomes of each match before I head to the event to attend my first live WWE pay-per-view.

I apologize to anyone who tried to read my earlier article. It was somehow cut in half during the posting process and I was unable to recover it. I decided to re-write the article before heading into the arena.

TOP NEWS

Monday Night RAW
TKO Listing Day

Match 1: Miz vs Santino for the US Title. Santino for the win.

Miz will be getting a title shot tonight in WWE's live pre-show, which will be streamed through WWE.com and YouTube.

Miz is someone who I feel WWE is not punishing, but waiting until the right moment to push again, which is why I feel like tonight is not his night to win a title. Santino is doing alright at the US Champion, and I see him getting the win tonight.

I am sure there will be some kind of insane ending to this match where Santino hits the Cobra out of nowhere, but if Miz does win, then it could mean he will be out of the main event scene for quite some time.

Match 2: Beth Phoenix vs Nikki Bella for the Divas Title. Nikki for the win.

Beth Phoenix is "injured," and Nikki Bella will have Brie with her tonight, which all seems to point to Nikki keeping the belt for a little bit longer.

This could be a signal that The Bellas have re-signed with WWE, but we will have to wait and see. There is some chatter about Kharma from others in the IWC, and frankly, I would love to see her come out and destroy everyone in the ring.

Nikki and Brie are not great in the ring, but they are good representatives for the WWE. They have the charisma to do press appearances, and the fact that they are twins who are gorgeous does not hurt either.

Match 3: Cody Rhodes vs Big Show for the IC Title. Big Show for the win.

Cody Rhodes is on the verge of being a main event player on Smackdown; I can feel it. Maybe me and Brock have the same ability?

Anyway, Cody has been looking like the aggressor in recent weeks with his random attacks on Big Show, which means Big Show is going into this match with some anger behind him.

After a loss at WrestleMania, a lot of people might expect this match to go the other way, but if WWE wants to make Cody into a real contender for the World Title, then they should have him lose tonight and then get into a non-title feud with a main event talent and come out on top.

That way, by SummerSlam, he is ready to jump into the hunt for the World Title.

Match 4: Kane vs Randy Orton. Orton for the win.

Randy Orton is a man out for revenge after Kane took out his father a few weeks ago, and that means tonight's falls count anywhere match is sure to see the Viper use some very violent tactics against Kane.

Kane won the encounter at WrestleMania, which means Orton is more likely to get the win tonight if you look at history. I also feel Orton needs this win because he has not been as successful over the past year as he has been in the past.

Orton seemed to take the role of a main event talent who helps put others over in the past year, and I respect him for it. Before Wade Barrett was injured, Orton did wonders for him by putting him over on a few occasions.

He also gave up wins to guys like Daniel Bryan and Dolph Ziggler at times. If Orton is to get back on top, then a win over Kane would certainly be a step in the right direction.

Match 5: Brock Lesnar vs John Cena

This might sound crazy, but I see Cena getting the win tonight. WWE had Edge come out, one of Cena's best rivals, and give him a pep talk that would inspire Mike Ditka and Phil Jackson.

I want to see Cena win because his loss to The Rock seemed ridiculous to me, and he needs to beat Lesnar to prove he is still the top dog in this company.

I know Cena has his haters, and a lot of them, but I like him because he does what is best for the company, and that is something which has to be respected. He does what he is told, he doesn't do anything stupid in his personal life to end up on TMZ with a terrible mugshot and he does more chairty work than anyone else.

I also see Cena winning so this feud with Lesnar can extend into the summer while giving guys like Jericho, Punk, Del Rio and Miz the chance to be the top guys in the WWE Title scene for a bit longer.

Match 6: Daniel Bryan vs Sheamus for the World Title. Sheamus for the win.

I want Daniel Bryan to win, but I think Sheamus will win. I do not see WWE having him lose the title in less than a month after winning it in 18 seconds on the biggest night of the year, but I do see him losing at least one of the three falls in the match to make it more dramatic.

One thing I hope happens more than anything is that Christian makes some kind of appearance to show that he is ready to be World Champion again.

I do not really know what WWE is planning with this match, but my best guess would be a Sheamus victory, possibly after some help from a distraught AJ.

Match 7: CM Punk vs Chris Jericho for the WWE Title. Punk for the win.

This is another match where I want the challenger to win, but think the champion will retain. Punk has been put through hell by Jericho in recent weeks, and if WWE wants the good guy to overcome, then Punk will win after a brutal match.

I really want Jericho to win, though. I think the storyline would be way more interesting if the guy who was playing all these mind games with his opponent actually won. Jericho is a great WWE talent, and having him as Champion, even if it was just until the next PPV, would make for some very interesting television.

I also wanted to let you guys know that I will be in attendance, and I will be bringing some signs which won the polls I posted on Friday. Here is a list of the signs I will be bringing tonight. I will sit really close to the ring, so make sure to watch for the guy in the BR hoodie holding them up.
