MLB Betting Odds: New York Mets SP R.A. Dickey Is a Dangerous Home Underdog

The Miami Marlins (7-9) and New York Mets (9-8) will continue a three-game National League East series on Wednesday night at Citi Field, with the first pitch scheduled for 7:10 p.m. ET.

Las Vegas oddsmakers have established the Mets as plus-115 home underdogs despite some incredible numbers by their starting pitcher, while the total stands at seven, but is receiving some upward pressure in the betting market.

R.A. Dickey (2-1, 5.75 ERA) registered a perfect 3-0 record in three starts versus the Marlins in 2011, as he didn't surrender a single earned run in 20 innings pitched.  It's still important to note that he's 5-2 with a  3.91 ERA in nine career games in this divisional series.

The Mets are 5-2 in Dickey's last seven starts as a home underdog, while the "under" is 5-1 in that situation.

Umpire Bill Miller may help the right-hander's cause, with the home team being 3-1 in his four games behind home plate this year.

Miami has been pressing at the plate in dropping the first three games of its current road trip, scoring just three combined runs in that span. Marlins shortstop Jose Reyes is batting just .215 on the season, as the 2011 NL batting champion gets set to face his former team for the second time.

Mark Buehrle (1-2, 2.66 ERA) will be searching for his first road win of the year, going 0-2 with a 3.65 ERA in two starts away from Marlins Park. He has received just one run of support in those two efforts.

Buehrle will be making his first career start versus the Mets, as he spent the first 12 years of his career with the Chicago White Sox in the American League.

The Marlins are 2-7 on the road this season, with the "under" going 5-4 in that situation.

Weather forecasts suggest partly cloudy skies and game-time temperatures in the mid-50s, with five to 10 mph winds out of the west (in from center).

The "under" was 2-5 in those conditions at Citi Field in 2011.
