Ohio State Football: Urban Meyer off to Great Start with 2013 Recruiting Class
On one hand, the hype that surrounds college football is arguably the most ridiculous spectacle in sports. Hyping up high school kids as the savior of a college program is just absurd to me, but so it goes.
On the other hand, a surefire way to evaluate the recruiting prowess of a new coach, like it or not, is by the amount of high-profile recruits he lands.
And so far, Urban Meyer's 2013 class is looking pretty good. Here's an look at the (just-released) ESPN 150 recruits heading to Ohio State.

Yes, they are only verbal commitments, and we all know how tenuous they can be. And Ohio State hasn't landed nearly the haul that Michigan has thus far—the Wolverines have received 11 verbal commitments from ESPN 150 prospects.
People in Columbus won't be thrilled with that.
Still, Meyer's presence alone looks like it will pay immediate dividends in the recruiting game. He landed the sixth-best class according to ESPN in 2012, his first year on the recruiting trail, and it looks like he's headed for another top-10 class this year.
As always, what these highly-lauded classes actually does on the field is what matters in a few years. Nobody cares about that expensive guitar you bought, only if you can make good music with it.
He's landing the instruments. Now let's see if Meyer can play the championship tune at Ohio State.
