Bobby Petrino: Jessica Dorrell Incident Will Ensure Petrino Never Coaches Again
Bobby Petrino's firing and his relationship with Arkansas employee Jessica Dorrell will ensure that he never becomes a head coach at a BCS football program again.
Arkansas released some of the details of Petrino's relationship with Dorrell, which included the following, via USA Today:
"The messages, among some 300 pages of records released Wednesday under a Freedom of Information Act request, appear to include picture and video files, though there was no way to verify the content. But the records clearly show a married father of four in frequent contact with Dorrell, a 25-year-old former Razorbacks volleyball player.
"
No school is going to want to bring on the distractions that would arise from hiring Petrino to be the head coach. The headache and possible alumni displeasure wouldn't create a strong working environment for the coaches and players.
With so many scandals having affected college sports over the last few years, universities aren't going to risk hiring Petrino only to have him ruin the school's program with mistakes.
Petrino does win games and he does lead his teams to bowls. Last season, he led the Razorbacks to the Cotton Bowl, where they defeated a talented Kansas State from the Big 12 conference.
Winning is everything in college sports, but at the same time, you cannot make your school look foolish and damage its reputation by hiring someone like Petrino, who has a history of issues that go back further than the Dorrell incident.
Petrino just isn't worth the headache, and no school is going to want to hire him, then have him eventually leave the wrong way. Hiring him as a head coach in the future just makes no sense.
