Kurt Angle Backs out of Olympics, Addresses Fans Via Twitter
This is a rough one—not only for Kurt Angle, but for his fans who were hoping to see him in the Olympics.
On Thursday morning, Angle took to Twitter and posted the following tweets:
"
"Due to Hamstring@Knee Injuries, I'm forced to Pull Out of trials.Had a talk W/ Usa Wrestling Coach Zeke Jones Who has Supported Me all Year
— Kurt Angle (@RealKurtAngle) April 12, 2012"
"Training for Gold and Wrestling for #ImpactWrestling at the Same time took it's toll. I'm Still Proud that I Went 4 It at age 43. Thx to
— Kurt Angle (@RealKurtAngle) April 12, 2012""
Angle also mentioned that he was still going to compete at Sunday's LockDown and—regardless of injuries—will give his all. Angle's tweets were very sincere and humbling. Overall, he seemed gracious for the opportunity and thanked both TNA and the fans for backing him.
I was personally hoping that Angle would have been able to compete in London. However, he has had a bad string of injuries that started prior to October's Bound For Glory pay-per-view.
I think this will give Angle a chance to reassess his career and decide whether he should continue wrestling on a weekly basis, or instead feature similarly to Sting and The Undertaker.
I hope Angle heals quickly, but don't expect to see much of him after LockDown. In the end, I guess time will tell on how Angle handles the rest of his career.
In whatever capacity Angle is used, he will give his all to entertain the fans. That's for certain.
