WWE SmackDown: Top 5 Reasons to Keep Daniel Bryan Heel

Justin WatryJun 7, 2018

The entire WWE universe is still buzzing over Daniel Bryan. First, it was his amazing entrance at WrestleMania. Then, it was his (rightful) 18-second World Title loss to Sheamus.

Now, the world is discussing last night's SmackDown. Bryan seemed to break up with AJ, before hinting at a future title rematch. While some think a face turn is coming, I certainly do not.

Here are the top five reasons to keep Daniel Bryan a heel.

5. Disrespectful to Women

1 of 5

Did I miss something?

Daniel Bryan has disrespected AJ for weeks now. He told her to shut up a few weeks ago. Let's not forget the harm caused by Big Show.

Bryan was using her to keep his title.

Now that he has lost the gold, AJ is no longer needed. Last night, he sent her to the back and all but ended their relationship. Again, he treated a woman terribly.

How are any of these actions noble? Why was the live crowd cheering this again? None of this screamed "good guy" one bit.

4. SmackDown Roster

Daniel Bryan is one of the most entertaining heels on the Blue Brand right now.

Who else is there?

Mark Henry was just involved with the WWE champion on Raw. David Otunga is great, but he's nowhere near the main-event level. The same can be said about Cody Rhodes.

Alberto Del Rio may work for SmackDown, but I believe he is currently a Raw talent. Yes, the brand extension sure is great, huh?

As you can see, SmackDown lacks a few good heels. Bryan was doing just fine in that role.

3. Face Run

Did everybody forget his last face run?

Daniel Bryan was terrible as a face. The facial expressions were embarrassing. His "good guy" promos were tough to get through. Even the fans could never get behind him.

He may have a new attitude, but it doesn't change the past year. His face run was totally lost in the shuffle, so why go right back to that only a few months later?

The last thing we need is Michael Cole to bash him every single night again.

2. Time

4 of 5

Sheamus is the new World Heavyweight Champion. His title run is not ending anytime soon. He is also not turning heel anytime soon.

Randy Orton is also a top face on SmackDown. Big Show can also be added to that list. Who knows where Ryback will go in 2012?

Daniel Bryan would fit in as a face...where exactly? If there is a draft, moving him to Raw would be a disaster waiting to happen. Keeping him on SmackDown would be just asking for trouble.

Let's just give this whole thing time.

Do not forget, it was just a few months ago that every city was chanting for Zack Ryder. Matches he was in, segments he wasn't in, it was all about fans wanting Ryder.

Now?

Nothing.

I would wait a few months with Bryan. Now that the company is out of WrestleMania week, let's see how live crowds react. Maybe this craze will die down. Maybe it won't.

Either way, let's give it time.

1. Better as a Heel

5 of 5

Daniel Bryan is simply better as a heel.

Please save all the "tweener" nonsense. This isn't the late 90s anymore, no matter how many times fans try to bring it up. Play a face or a heel, but not both!

Some performers are made to be bad guys. Others make a perfect hero. The former world champion has found a nice role on SmackDown.

To just change it because of a few "too smart" audiences would be ridiculous. The man has been doing great work the past few months. There is no reason to change it now.

He just had a four-month reign as world champion. Ratings stayed steady. Crowds began to actually respond to his entrance, and he has become a known figure.

The man knows his character and plays it extremely well.
