WWE News: Edge and Christian Will Steal Show at Hall of Fame 2012 Inductions

Tim DanielsJun 4, 2018

The WWE Hall of Fame will welcome six new inductees this weekend as a part of the WrestleMania festivities in Miami. No induction will be able to match that of Christian inducting his best friend Edge after their long, storied history.

Joining Edge as the newest Hall of Fame members are Yokozuna, Mil Mascaras, Ron Simmons, The Four Horsemen and Mike Tyson as the celebrity entrant, according to the WWE. It's not the strongest class ever, but there are certainly some notable names.

None of them have as much background as Edge and Christian. The seven-time tag team champions are lifelong friends and were able to live out their dream of being professional wrestlers right alongside each other for many years.

Unfortunately, an injury cut Edge's career short without a storybook-ending feud with Christian. That would have been a perfect way for both veterans to finish their respective careers, but it didn't work out that way.

While working as partners, they loved to come up with quirky five-second poses, which were always "for the benefit of those with flash photography." Back when the tag team division actually mattered, little things like that helped them stand out from the crowd.

Inductions for the WWE Hall of Fame don't usually go as deep as Edge and Christian likely will, because the connection between presenter and inductee isn't normally strong. For example, Triple H and Shawn Michaels will welcome Tyson.

Nothing the D-Generation X buddies come up with for the boxer will be as entertaining as what Christian has planned for his friend. There will surely be one last five-second pose to send the fans home happy, but now, it's for the benefit of those with camera phones.

There have been some questions about Edge being a first-ballot Hall of Fame choice since former stars like Ultimate Warrior, Randy Savage and Rick Rude still haven't been given the honor, but Edge had a terrific career of his own.

He won the WWE Championship four times and the World Heavyweight title seven times along with his tremendous work with Christian. That's more than enough to warrant a spot next to some of the greats in wrestling history.

Thankfully, he's got a friend like Christian to give him the memorable induction he deserves after truly sacrificing his body for so many years.
