WWE News: Shawn Michaels Denies Rumors of a WrestleMania 29 Return

Justin WatryMar 26, 2012

Well, it's definitely WrestleMania season!

You can tell by the amount of news and rumors posted as each day passes. Today was no different.

WrestleZone.com reported the following just hours ago:

TOP NEWS

WRESTLING: OCT 02 AEW Dynamite/Rampage Pittsburgh
Monday Night RAW
"

After speaking with sources, WZ has learned that WWE involved Shawn Michaels in the Hell in a Cell match between Triple H and The Undertaker with a tentative plan to set up HBK's involvement at WrestleMania 29.

"

Of course, the story is hinting towards a Shawn Michaels vs. Triple H match next year that would be announced as early as next week on Monday Night Raw.

Later on, Michaels took to his official Twitter account to dismiss those reports.

To a question on the validity of the rumor, he wrote:

"

Bogus!! False!! Lie!! Completely made up!! Too much?:-)

"

My thoughts on this:

The first thing that ran through my mind was Ric Flair.

HBK was the man who gave Flair the perfect sendoff just a few years ago. To return to the ring like he did would be disappointing.

Michaels has nothing to prove and having another match with Triple H wouldn't do anything. He is (arguably) the best performer of all time. One more match wouldn't add anything to his legacy, even if it was to give HHH one last great match.

Secondly, I thought of the source.

No offense, but WrestleZone has a lousy track record. Yes, they get some stories right. However, they also get a ton wrong.

It was no more than two months ago the same reporter had big news about a potential Triple H vs. CM Punk match at WrestleMania, as well as Chris Jericho vs. Undertaker.

We all remember that, right?

Well, Punk is feuding with Jericho. Triple H is feuding with Taker, just as we all expected.

Last year, they also hyped up Brodus Clay appearing just about every single week without doing so, as well as Skip Sheffield being ready to debut at the Royal Rumble.

Rob Van Dam is still with TNA, not WWE.

Ric Flair is still a question mark with the WWE Hall of Fame. The list goes on and on about false alarms.

All were reported in some form by "sources." Yet, none of those happened.

Finally, this goes into my previous point: You just never know in this business.

We can read all the "exclusives" we want. However, plans change. Injuries happen. Crowds may change a few things once in a while. That is just the way it is.

From the recent FCW drama to the Lord Tensai character, it is always a mess. I tend to stay away from believing most reports, but they are out there. I felt the need to comment on this one.

Do I want HBK to wrestle again? No.

Do I believe this recent report? No.

Just as the wrestling business says though, never say never.
