Wrestlemania XXVIII: 5 Ways That Shawn Michaels Will Screw over the Undertaker

Daine PavloskiJun 7, 2018

April 1, 2012 is shaping up to be one of the greatest WrestleManias in the history of the WWE. Somewhere between an epic match pitting The Rock against John Cena and CM Punk taking on Jericho the WWE has found time for a match that is being billed as "The End of an Era."

A rematch from last years shocking contest where wrestling fans young and old looked on as HHH was one last gasping Hell's Gate submission move from ending the Undertaker's WrestleMania streak.

This year is different. This year Shawn Michaels, who barely failed on his own attempts at the streak, will be the special guest referee locked inside a Hell in a Cell.

What role will The Heartbreak Kid play? Will jealousy cause him to help the Undertaker? Will he stand by his former DX Co-General and help his friend of 17 years end the streak?

I'm going with the latter. HBK will start out as a non-biased bystander, but won't let his buddy Triple H go down without a little help. But how will HBK help HHH?

Here are a few ways I think we may see the Heartbreak Kid break the black heart of the Undertaker.

1. "Missed" Three Count

1 of 6

We've seen a lot of special guest referees "miss" a three-count or count slow to try to stop the pinner from winning. Will HBK "miss" a pin or submission attempt by the Undertaker?

I don't think we'll see HBK completely ignore or miss a pin attempt on purpose. But I wouldn't be surprised to see HBK accidentally miss one, whether he's woozy from an accidental strike or if he is distracted by something.

Expect it to be even because he'll probably miss a would-be win for both competitors, but missing an opportunity for Undertaker to win can definitely fall under the "screwed" category.

2. The Accidental Assist

This is another popular special guest referee match spot. Expect HBK to be dealing with Triple H, whether it's telling I'm to break a hold or even trying to wrestle a sledgehammer out of his hands and somehow accidentally colliding with Undertaker, allowing Triple H to capitalize.

Again, this is a way for HBK to look like he is trying to be unbiased, while still assisting one wrestler. This, like the "missed" count, will probably happen to both competitors throughout the match.

3. Cell Help

This year's installment of HHH vs the Undertaker is, of course, taking place in a Hell in a Cell chamber. Will the Showstopper be able to resist a chance to use the "Devil's Playground" at the biggest stage of them all?

I submit that he will not.

I can definitely see Mr. WrestleMania having a big spot of his own involving the hellish structure. Whether he jumps from the top of the cell, puts the Undertaker through a side of the chamber or pulls a spider-man from the side of the cell, don't be surprised if HBK turns on Taker and uses the cell to do it.

4. Stop...Hammer Time

4 of 6

I can see it now: Undertaker is starting to roll, he hits his running lariat on Triple H, Shawn Michaels can see it, he can FEEL it. The Undertaker's streak will go on.

Then suddenly, as Undertaker walks to a down Triple H, Michaels slides him the infamous sledgehammer. Triple H then uses his weapon of choice to put down The Phenom and end the streak.

I have to say, if Shawn Michaels is going to screw over the Undertaker, the sledgehammer HAS to be involved. Triple H can't win dirty if he doesn't use his favorite foreign object, but then again, in "The Devil's Playground," anything goes.

5. Sweet Chin Music

5 of 6

Like the sledgeHHHammer, it's hard for me to picture HBK screwing over Taker without tuning up the band one last time for a little Sweet Chin Music. I can picture a few scenarios that would see HBK helping his old DX buddy.

Picture with me, if you will, Undertaker surprising Triple H and the world with another last chance Hell's Gate submission hold. This time however, before the King of Kings is forced to tap out, Undertaker leans up only to see the sole of HBK's boot.

Another possibility would be Triple H hitting the Pedigree. While he collects himself to go for the cover Taker sits up but is immediately put back down by a well-placed kick by the Heartbreak Kid.

A similar scenario would be Undertaker going for his eyes-rolled-back, tongue-out, pin after a Tombstone Piledriver and being rudely interrupted by a boot on his chin by Mr. WrestleMania.

But Why?!

6 of 6

Why would HBK do this? History my dear readers, history.

As we know, Undertaker and HBK have a lot of WrestleMania history. Michaels got close, but could never get the job done. HBK also is a long-time friend of Triple H. Will this friendship outweigh HBK's jealousy that his confidant has a chance to end the streak that he himself could not? We'll have to wait for April 1st to see.

Until then, what do you think? Will the Heartbreak Kid seek revenge on the Undertaker and help his colleague secure a victory or will he turn the tables on the King of Kings?
