Jose Canseco has never had a problem speaking his mind and that should be apparently clear from the two books that he has written.

He is a noted steroid user and Canseco has pointed fingers at a number of other players in the majors that have done steroids. His accusations have been right on more than one occasion.

The media loves Canseco because he often provides a number of great quotes. He added a few more to the list after he allegedly took a banned substance which will prevent him from playing in the Mexican League.

Here are just some of the gems that Canseco has provide over the past few years.

10. Thanks Mark

Quote: “I think baseball owes McGwire a gratitude of thanks for putting baseball back on the map where it should be.”

Jose Canseco is one of the people that thinks that Mark McGwire saved baseball with his impressive home run displays and his chase of Roger Maris's record.

While the summer of '98 did captivate the attention of baseball fans, it was more than just McGwire that drew attention. Sammy Sosa also was a big draw as well.

9. It's a Conspiracy

Quote: "Someone big wants me out of Mexico. Question is who and why?"

Jose Canseco has taken to his Twitter to complain about the fact that he will not be able to play in the Mexican League.

Apparently Canseco thinks that someone is out to get him. It seems a bit ridiculous that someone would have created such an elaborate plot to get Canseco out of the league.

8. Jose to the Rescue

Quote: "I am going to prove that steroids are overrated and that the players who used them should be in the Hall of Fame."

Once again we turn to Twitter for another ridiculous quote from Canseco. It is uncertain how exactly Canseco was planning on doing this.

Did he really think that if he dominated the Mexican League that it would all of a sudden open up the baseball Hall of Fame to steroid users?

7. Jose Ponders out Loud

Quote: "Are we to say that any individual who's on steroids that has an angry moment is due to steroids? What about the individual who gets angry and kills someone who's not on steroids? What do we blame it on now?" Source: Brainy Quote

Jose Canseco is trying to address the issue of 'roid rage here, but it seems as if he does not exactly grasp the point.

6. So Now You're a Doctor?

Quote: "I don't recommend steroids for everyone, and I don't recommend growth hormones for everyone, but for certain individuals, I truly believe, because I've experimented with it for so many years, that it can make an average athlete a super athlete. It can make a super athlete—incredible. Just legendary." Source: CBS News

If there was a list of people that I would take medical advice from I would have to say that Jose Canseco would likely be towards the bottom part of that list.

That does not mean that Canseco has refrained from giving medical advice to others.

5. And Where Is Your Medical Degree From?

Quote: "Over the years I've been diagnosed with arthritis, scoliosis, degenerative disc disease, you name it. I truly believe I would be in a wheelchair today if steroids hadn't been available to me. I need steroids and human growth hormones just to live." Source: Baseball's Steroid Era

This quote comes from Jose Canseco's book Juiced. Keep in mind that this book came out in 2005. It has been seven years since then, and Canseco has said that he has stopped taking performance enhancing drugs.

Not only is he not in a wheelchair, but he was playing professional baseball in Mexico.

4. Check That Crystal Ball Again

Quote: "There's also an issue that I just found out two or three weeks ago, meaning this gene doping issue, in the sense of steroids may become obsolete. They may become old news in three to four years."

This quote comes from an interview that Jose Canseco did with Sean Hannity in 2005. It is now seven years later and steroids are certainly not old news.
Baseball still has a problem with steroids and big names, such as Manny Ramirez, failing drug tests in recent years.

3. What About That Time You Used Steroids?

Quote: "You don't need steroids to be a great athlete just believe in yourself like I do!"

This is another gem from Jose Canseco's Twitter. If you don't follow it, you should because it is very entertaining at times.

Apparently, Canseco doesn't remember that he used steroids for a good portion of his career, and they helped him play at a very high level.

2. Did He Read His Own Book?

Quote: "Did steroids make me a better baseball player? Of course they did."

This quote goes hand in hand with the one before it. This is an excerpt from Jose Canseco's book, Juiced.

Apparently, Canseco forgot about this when he made the comment that is on the previous slide. Make up your mind Jose, do steroids make you great or not?

1. Now All He Needs Is a Good Superhero Name

Quotes: "I don't think I've lost a beat at all. Because of my physique and my look...I fit in the natural action-hero role."

Jose Canseco apparently wanted to be a movie star, and he signed with a little known Hollywood agent in hopes of landing a role.

In an article in the Los Angeles Times that was written by Robert W. Welkos, there is a quote of Canseco talking about how he fits the roles perfectly.
