WWE WrestleMania XXVIII: There Is No Need for Money in the Bank

Justin WatryFeb 25, 2012

Let me put up a few notes!

1. I love the Money in the Bank gimmick. It has been great every year, and the "cash in" always creates a moment to remember.

2. I have strongly believed that every briefcase should equal a title victory. While others would try and "fantasy book" somebody to finally lose, I never did. The wrestler had to win. Period!

3. Last year's Money in the Bank PPV event was excellent and one of the best WWE ever produced. Being a paying customer for 20 years, that says a lot.

With all of that being said, I see no reason for the match to return to Miami, Florida come April 1. Just like there is no reason for a special guest referee in the Heck on a Deck match, I see no reason for a ladder match at Mania.

It is already going to be hard enough to hang a huge cell above the ring. Add in a rung to hold a briefcase! That is just creating more problems for all the hard working men and women setting up.

Even looking at story lines on WWE TV, I see nothing close to a Money in the Bank match forming. No mentions. No videos. No hype. Nothing!

To randomly start having qualifying matches next week would be very disappointing. The only thing worst than Mania matches not delivering are Mania matches thrown together last minute and not delivering.

All the mid card talents with no direction are likely to be involved in the General Manager's story, so making another huge multi-man match would just be too much. You might as well the pre-show battle royal to the main show if you are really considered with everybody getting screen time.

Finally, you have the issue of the gimmick having its own PPV a few months later. Whether it is in July or September, it doesn't matter. If you are going to have a match as the focus for PPV events, there is no reason for that match type to be on all year.

You don't see Elimination Chamber matches all year. Or Royal Rumble matches. It just makes zero sense.

Yes, WWE is now running a Heck on a Deck match at WrestleMania with Triple H vs. Undertaker, despite its own PPV, but my thought remains the same. Come October, that PPV should now be eliminated.

I was also against Mike "The Miz" Mizanin vs. Jerry Lawler in a TLC match on Raw just a few weeks before the PPV concept.

No reason to do that.

Whether it is on the PPV schedule or not, save the match for its own show. I didn't miss it at Mania last year, just as I didn't crave for it before Wrestle Mania XXI. In closing, I ask just one question to everybody still wanting the concept back but isn't ordering the April PPV spectacle.

If WWE adds a Monday in the Bank match to WrestleMania, will you spend the $60 (or more) to watch the show?
