NBA Rising Stars Challenge 2012: Roster, Start Time, Date, TV Info and More
The NBA's exciting All-Star weekend will kick off on Friday when the league's best and brightest stars compete in the Rising Stars Challenge. There are plenty of reasons to be excited for the contest as there is a new format, as well as the inclusion of New York Knicks sensation Jeremy Lin.
This game had previously involved rookie players against sophomore players, but this year all of the selected players were put into a draft pool. TNT analysts and NBA legends Charles Barkley and Shaquille O'Neal then proceeded to each draft 10-man squads.
There is no question that both teams are filled with tons of talent, so the Rising Stars Challenge could be one of the highlights of the weekend. It's fair to say that there isn't usually much attention paid to defense in these games, so the likes of Lin, Blake Griffin and Kyrie Irving are sure to put on a show.
Here is everything you need to know about Friday's Rising Stars Challenge.

Most Important Player to Watch: Jeremy Lin
The NBA league office made a smart business decision when it added red-hot Knicks point guard Jeremy Lin to the Rising Stars Challenge talent pool just before the dispersal draft. Without Lin, this game would have been somewhat intriguing thanks to players like Blake Griffin, Kyrie Irving and Ricky Rubio, but there is no question that all eyes will be on Lin.
Since first receiving significant playing time 10 games ago, Lin has taken the league by storm, averaging 24.6 points and 9.2 assists per contest over that time frame. Lin has continued to dominate, even with opposing teams keying in on him defensively. With little focus on defense in the Rising Stars Challenge, though, Linsanity will likely be running wild in Orlando.
