Brad Marchand: Bruins Wing Could Be Suspended for Clip Against Canadiens' Emelin
Brad Marchand, once again, is in a position where he could face supplemental discipline from the NHL. Towards the end of the second period against the Montreal Canadiens, Marchand was penalized for a clip on Alexei Emelin.
The hit was directly in the knee area of Emelin and left him shaken up. Marchand received a two-minute minor for the clip, and Twitter was buzzing with complaints and predictions that Marchand would be suspended.
Marchand was suspended for five games for a hit against Sami Salo of the Vancouver Canucks early this year, a hit described by Brendan Shannahan to be both predatory and dangerous.

After looking at the video, the hit was not as egregious as the one against Salo, but this hit was not necessary considering when and where it occurred. Odds are that Marchand will be suspended at least a game because he is a repeat offender.
Marchand was criticized early this year by Canucks' head coach Alain Vigneault.
Vigneault remarked:
"Marchand—and this is just my feeling—but someday he’s going to get it. Someday, someone’s going to say "enough is enough" and they’re going to hurt the kid because he plays to hurt players. And if the league doesn’t care, somebody else will.
"
It will be interesting to see how the Canadiens and Randy Cunneyworth will respond to Marchand's hit.
Do you feel that this hit is worthy enough for a suspension, or should Marchand simply be given a $ 2,500 fine?
