Jeremy Lin Will Be Exposed Tonight vs. Kobe Bryant's LA Lakers
Compare the resume of Kobe Bryant, one of the greatest players in the history of the game, a top five scorer with five championships on one side. An NBA D-League call up with three consecutive nice games on the other side.
So when Bryant is asked about Lin, it's not surprising that his answer was borderline disdain,
"“What? No idea. I know who he is but I don’t really know what’s going on too much with them.”
"
Pressed further, Bryant said,
"“I don’t even know what he’s done. Like, I have no idea what you guys are talking about. I’ll take a look at [the tape] tonight though.”
"
Bryant probably has more than a general, vague notion of who Jeremy Lin is. At the same time, it's not like he spends what little spare time he has surfing the internet looking for Lin highlights. He is in the middle of the busiest NBA season in history.
The response though, is similar to Tom Brady being asked about Tim Tebow. With Brady, the notion that Tebow had even earned the right to be raised as a question to him seemed to make Brady want to send a message that Tebow just didn't belong on the same field.
Brady went and destroyed Tebow after that. Something similar is likely happen when the Lakers face the Knicks tonight, and post some huge numbers. Bryant will let it be known that it's foolishness to ask him about a young D-League player in his third start.
Similarly, as Brady got some help from his defense, so will Bryant from his. Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum are not going to part like the Red Sea, and invite Lin to dunk the way that the Washington Wizards did. The Wizards are 19th in the league with points given up at the rim. The Lakers are 7th.
Lin and the Knicks are a nice story, and it won't end tonight, but tonight will see Lin brought back to earth against the Lakers.
