Knicks Trade Rumors: New York Must Nab a Point Guard Before Deadline
The New York Knicks are going to have to find a serviceable point guard on the trade market before the March 15 deadline.
Jeremy Lin’s emergence has been clutch, to say the least, but that doesn’t excuse the fact that he’s the only thing resembling a true PG on the roster.
Just look at the rest of the so-called guards.

John Wall Named CBB Team President 🦬
Toney Douglas
He’s an undersized shooting guard with below-average passing abilities. He’s great as an energy guy coming off the bench, and can handle point duties for small stretches, but he should never be starting a game at the position.
Iman Shumpert
It’s ridiculous the Knicks even consider this guy a point guard. There is plenty of potential for him to become a serviceable 2-guard that plays great defense, but he’s never going to have the court vision required from a one.
Mike Bibby
He’s still alive? If so, he will be the first one cut if the Knicks acquire another player.
Baron Davis
New York was banking on this dude to come back from his injury and revitalize their stagnant offense.
Unfortunately, it seems they can’t catch a break and an infected elbow is going to keep him out until after the All-Star break, at the least.
Jeremy Lin
His incredible two-game stretch has unfairly hoisted great expectations onto him for the rest of the season.
Should he be able to live up to those, it would be great for the team. However, it’s unlikely he will be this brilliant over the course of what is effectively his rookie year.
It’s fine if Lin can’t come through on a nightly basis, and it’s a reason why the Knicks need to continue their pursuit for someone like Johnny Flynn.
If Baron can’t get healthy and Lin can’t step up every night, they need that third guard as insurance and a backup plan.
There is no excusable reason for the franchise not to acquire another true point guard before or at the deadline if they want to make a serious playoff run.
