Super Bowl 2012 Prop Bets: Outrageous Wagers You Simply Must Avoid

Mike ChiariJun 7, 2018

It's no secret that the Super Bowl is the single most bet upon event in sports. Because of that there is no shortage of interesting prop bets available to place a wager on. While some of them have merit, there are others that are absolutely ridiculous.

When you've stooped to betting on things that have absolutely no bearing on the game itself, it's safe to say that it's time to rein yourself in a bit. There are a bunch of awful potential props, but here are the three worst that you shouldn't bet on by any means.

Gisele Bundchen Appearances

With New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady back in the Super Bowl, there is bound to be some talk about his personal life. Tom Terrific is married to supermodel Gisele Bundchen, and the odds are that she will be in attendance in Indianapolis. One prop in relation to that is an over/under with regards to how many times Gisele will be shown during NBC's telecast.

Mrs. Brady is obviously extremely nice to look at, but worrying about her appearing on the screen will really take away from the Super Bowl watching experience. The line has yet to be released, but you had better believe that Gisele will make more than one appearance. It's impossible to say how many, though, so the likelihood of making money off this prop is very low.

Gatorade Color

The winning team pouring Gatorade on their head coach following the game has become one of the longest-standing Super Bowl traditions. It's certainly a feel-good moment, but it isn't something you should be betting on. If you truly want to, however, it is possible to place a wager on what color the Gatorade will be. There are a number of different options with varying odds, but it's way too tough to predict accurately.

Clear Gatorade or water is the current favorite at 3/2, with both orange and yellow close behind at 5/2. In order to make an educated guess as to what the color will be, though, you would have to go back and review tape, and that is quite honestly pathetic. There are so many colors to choose from that there isn't any money to be made here.

Kelly Clarkson National Anthem

There are quite a few props regarding Kelly Clarkson and the National Anthem, but the most egregious is whether or not she will mess up. The prop asks whether she will omit or forget at least one word of the official United States National Anthem. Clarkson is certainly a professional so it doesn't seem likely that she will flub the anthem, but on such a big stage you never know what can happen.

The biggest reason why this prop stinks, though, is that you may actually put yourself in a position where you're rooting for Clarkson to embarrass herself and for her to butcher the anthem. Call me crazy, but that just seems un-American. If you're hard up for some cash, then feel free to bet on some weird stuff, but please leave the National Anthem alone.
