Jody Kristofferson, son of famous country musician Kris Kristofferson, is the newest recruit to WWE's roster, having inked a deal just a couple of weeks ago. Today, TMZ.com announced that he has made a start at the promotion's boot camp, Florida Championship Wrestling.
For several years, the 24-year-old has spent his time labouring in small towns and cities across the United States, plying his trade in derelict halls and tiny gymnasiums.
However, when he rode into work one day, waiting for him were a few WWE officials. They had heard so much about "Big Country" and were eager to check him out.
They quickly snapped Kristofferson up on contract and have already allowed him to start work down at FCW.
TMZ, which has actually become somewhat of a reliable wrestling news source in the past year or so, claimed that several of the coaches were impressed with his work.
Not just that, but they're also keen on the fact that his father, Kris, is one famous man. No doubt that they'll want to take advantage of his celebrity connections.
It's been told that they didn't sign him just because of his father and that they feel that Jody is more than a flop in the making. They're of the belief that he is very talented and has enough potential to become a breakout star.
I haven't seen a whole lot of Kristofferson's work, but from what I have seen, he looks like a real gem. I genuinely hope that he finds a lot of success with WWE and that they don't just package him as a singing redneck.
Likewise though, I hope that they don't completely cut all ties he has with his father.
