WWE Inducting Mike Tyson into the WWE Hall of Fame Is Excellent
It is a great time to be a WWE fan!
The Royal Rumble was last night. The Road to WrestleMania is officially off and running. The Elimination Chamber pay-per-view event is in less than three weeks, and I can't wait to attend!
However, many fans look forward to the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony every year. I know I do. It is certainly not at the top of my list, but it is always fun and entertaining.
This year will be no different. We know about Edge getting inducted. We know about the Four Horsemen. Another wrestling legend was teased, but nothing is official now.
Today, WWE announced Mike Tyson will be joining the WWE Hall of Fame.
As a part of the celebrity wing, he will be honored next to Drew Carey, Pete Rose and others. It is a huge deal to be inducted into any Hall of Fame, much less the WWE's.
My thoughts on this news?
I love it! It is a long overdue move. If anybody deserves to be put into the celebrity wing, it is Mike Tyson. Many fans know him as a boxing legend, but he is much more than that.
Iron Mike is world-renowned star. Boxing fan or not. Wrestling fan or not. More than likely, you know Mike Tyson. That is the genius of this induction.
ESPN has picked up the story, and I am sure more news outlets are also ready. That is the best part of the WrestleMania feel. For all walks of life, they are talking about WWE.
It is the same reason I had no problem with Snooki last year. I also have no issues with Shaq teasing a match with Big Show. Or Miz calling out LeBron James. It is great for everybody involved, and money is certain to be made here for the company.
That brings us back to Mike Tyson. What can be said about his time in WWE that hasn't already been said? Not much!
He was the special enforcer for the main event at WrestleMania 14. He was a part of the iconic Stone Cold vs. Shawn Michaels match, as well as being a part of the Attitude Era "launch."
Add in a great Raw appearance back in 2010. Add in what is sure to be a memorable speech from Mike, and you have a fitting night. I applaud WWE for this decision, and I wish Tyson the best!
