Djokovic vs. Nadal: 2012 Australian Open Final Destined for Greatness

Eric BowmanJun 7, 2018

Novak Djokovic looks to defend his Australian Open title this weekend when he battles with Rafael Nadal, which is a huge win for tennis in general because this match is going to be great.

As the first Grand Slam event of the year, tennis really needs the Australian Open to kick off with a bang. That didn't happen a year ago, but Djokovic and Nadal will make sure the fans get a very entertaining finals match.

Last year, Djokovic beat Andy Murray in straight sets, and fans were left with a boring end to a great tournament.

This year, however, everyone will be blessed with a superb finals because these two tennis stars are evenly matched. Both have battled through pain in this tournament, and as the two top players in the world, they'll give the people what they want.

Nadal leads the head-to-head series between he and Djokovic at 16-13. However, it's Djokovic that has won the last six matches. Some weren't very epic, but there were a few fantastic matches between these two, and the 2012 Australian Open final will be another.

The last two times these stars met was in the U.S. Open and at Wimbledon. Djokovic won both in four sets, but it definitely wasn't easy.

It wont be a cake walk for Djokovic in this year's final because Nadal will be ready to play. He's a much better player than Murray, which is why Djokovic better be on the top of his game this weekend.

Expect excellent serves with great returns and intense match all day long between these two. They know how to put on a show, and this final match will not disappoint.

The 2012 Australian Open hasn't been overly exciting, but the final match between Djokovic and Nadal will make up for it all.
